Smoothies

I am OBSESSED with smoothies at the moment. They are such a great way to pack in LOADS of nutrients and give your digestive system a rest. I love smoothies for breakfast as a way to push back breakfast, because you can take it with you on the run.

Enjoy my nutrient packed smoothie combos below!

Chocolate crazy

Sometimes we just need a chocolate fix. Rather than reaching for sugar laden, processed varieties you can create this nutritional powerhouse!

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup cauliflower
  • 3 tbs cacao
  • 2 tbs collagen powder (Great Lakes)
  • 1 tbs clean protein powder (plant proteins can be inflammatory so try egg white versions such as Paleo Pro)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup ice

Blend and serve. To create a smoothie bowl simply top with ingredients such as dried goji berries, grain free granola, flaked coconut, nut butter or coconut yoghurt.

Berry nice

Berries are an amazing source of antioxidants and make great smoothie ingredients. They add a delicious tang and sweetness to the mix. I prefer using frozen varieties because they are cheaper and nutrients are locked in when they are picked and frozen.

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1/2 banana
  • 2 tbs collagen powder (Great Lakes)
  • 1 tbs clean, protein powder (plant proteins can be inflammatory so try egg white versions such as Paleo Pro)
  • 1 tbs chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup ice

Blend and serve. To create a smoothie bowl simply top with ingredients such as dried goji berries, grain free granola, flaked coconut, nut butter or coconut yoghurt.

Green Goodness

We all know that green foods contain a huge number of important nutrients. Some of these are phytonutrients, little bits of magic that only plants contain. Increase your consumption by blending them up!
